Dry Ice Terminology
- Block Press – Part of the machine that creates dry ice blocks. The block press compresses dry ice snow in to large blocks of dry ice.
- Dry Ice – A solid form of carbon dioxide that is frozen at -109.3°F. The purpose of dry ice is to keep things cold.
- Dry Ice Blasting – A non-abrasive cleaning method which involves shooting dry ice at high speeds to clean surfaces.
- Pelletizer – Part of the machine that creates dry ice pellets. Dry ice snow is pressed through a pelletizer to make the actual pellets of dry ice.
- Sublimation – The process of going from a solid to a gas without going through the liquid stage. Dry ice will sublimate from a solid block of CO2 in to the gas form of CO2 as it warms up.
- Substrate - The surface that is being cleaned by dry ice blasting.
